Isabella Bordin-Pérez, DVM
- Anatomic Pathology
Isabella Bordin Pérez is a veterinarian from Paraguay with a keen interest in anatomic pathology and her home country’s native wildlife.
She’s moving to Blacksburg in order to pursue a master’s in veterinary pathology and a residency in the same subject. She hopes of one day being a part of the very reduced but growing group of Paraguayan ACVP diplomate pathologists.
One of the main causes that have prompted her to leave her home and friends and move all the way up north, is the lack of pathologists focused on diseases affecting wildlife populations in Paraguay, where the biodiversity is rich but sees itself threatened everyday by the impact of human activity. It is her goal to go back to Paraguay and immerse herself in the vast and unexplored field of wildlife diseases and help in any way possible.
Outside of the lab she’s a passionate, albeit amateur, artist whose main inspirations are everyday objects and wild animals from Paraguay. In her opinion, nothing beats a night in with a homecooked meal and a feel-good movie in the company of her two beloved cats, Pascal and Sidney Newton (aka Chini), who are joining her from home as well.
Aside from veterinary pathology, she dreams of one day expanding her studies in the field of medical and scientific illustration.
