Alison Cash and Michelle H. Theus have published "Mechanisms of Blood–Brain Barrier Dysfunction in Traumatic Brain Injury" — a comprehensive review on the the blood brain barrier (BBB) — in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

Cash is a graduate student in the college's Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences program and in the Theus Laboratory; her research is focused on understanding a novel mechanism that drives the negative consequences of BBB disruption in brain injury.

Theus is an associate professor of molecular and cellular neurobiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology and co-director of the Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health graduate program.
