Alessandra Franchini, a Ph.D. candidate in small animal medicine and surgery and a researcher in the Comparative Cardiovascular Laboratory, received the 2021 Journal of Veterinary Cardiology Young Investigator Award for the best original study published in the journal during the period of June 2019 through June 2021. The award is highly competitive and represents great achievement.

Franchini's study is the central project of her Ph.D. program and part of a bigger project, LOOK-mitral.
