As a result of efforts led by designated Green Office Representative Andrea Renshaw, a laboratory support technician for Sterilization and Lab Support Services, VA-MD Vet Med laboratory support services — Lab Support and Sterilization Services at Phase 2, Lab Support and Sterilization Services at Integrated Life Sciences Building, and Lab Support and Sterilization Services at Center for One Health Research — earned Green Office Certification from the Virginia Tech Office of Sustainability.

According to Renshaw, because VA-MD Vet Med laboratories have many sterilizers, support staff are often concerned about energy and materials waste and strive to be as conservative as possible. Now certified, these labs are in a position to serve as a "green" resource for all of the college's labs, and staff can answer questions regarding sustainability, recyling, and energy use, among other concerns.
