Class of 2021 Commencement

The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine proudly conferred 122 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees, 27 Master of Public Health degrees — including six dual DVM/MPH degrees — and five Master of Science degrees in biomedical and veterinary sciences at its 2021 commencement ceremonies in Lane Stadium.

National Society of Phi Zeta, Chi Chapter
First organized in 1925 at Cornell University, Phi Zeta is the honor society of veterinary medicine that recognizes and promotes scholarship and research in matters pertaining to the welfare and diseases of animals. Induction of DVM candidates into Phi Zeta occurs annually: Those third-year students who rank scholastically in the top 10% of their class and those fourth-year students who rank scholastically in the top 25% of their class are inducted.
From its beginning, the aim of Phi Zeta has been to stand for constant advancement of the veterinary profession, for high educational requirements, and for rigorous scholarship.

General ItemRyan C. Aday Memorial Award
Ryan Aday was an excellent and highly motivated student who completed his degree in health promotion at Virginia Tech. In his honor, Dr. and Mrs. David Aday created the Ryan C. Aday Memorial Award. Each spring, the Department of Population Health Sciences selects two graduating MPH students from each concentration who have demonstrated excellence in academics and public health service as award recipients.
Virginia Tech Graduate Education Week Awards
Each year during Graduate Education Week, Virginia Tech's Graduate School recognizes excellence among graduate students and faculty mentors university-wide. Students are selected by their colleges for their leadership, scholarship, research, and service in their fields. Faculty mentors are nominated by graduate students and chosen by their colleges.
