Staff Member of the Month: June 2021
Carrie Nowlin
Executive assistant to the director
Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH)
I would like to nominate Carrie Nowlin for Staff Member of the Month. Her dedication to the hospital is remarkable. She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. Since starting at the VTH, Carrie has taken on many additional duties, but with the retirement of Dr. Hiller, there were several more duties added to her plate. She volunteered for many of these duties, and although there was a lot of pressure to complete these duties while keeping the rest of her work caught up, she stayed positive and kind with everyone she comes in contact with. She has taken on several large projects, including ensuring the VTH faculty/staff and most recently 294 students from the classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023 were scheduled for COVID vaccinations, often at short notice. She signed up more than 400 people and fielded hundreds of questions in a very short period of time, all while maintaining her regular duties, including making sure employees are paid accurately and timely. Carrie is always volunteering to help in any area needed, and a recent example was heading over to the Dedmon Center, again on short notice, when they asked for help. Carrie is extremely dedicated to the hospital and college by demonstrating Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) on a daily basis. She is well deserving of this award.
