Wellness Committee

Running Together Statue outside of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

At the VMCVM, our Wellness Committee is committed to fostering a holistic, One Health approach to well-being for our internal community—students, faculty, and staff. By providing comprehensive resources, engaging events, and innovative programs, we aim to support and enhance physical, mental, emotional, and social health, ensuring a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive both personally and professionally. We will be hosting and sponsoring events that highlight the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

8 Dimensions of Wellness

  • Occupational Wellness: achieving a balanced life between work and your personal life in a way that promotes personal and professional growth.
  • Emotional Wellness: the ability to understand our emotions and to be able to cope with the challenges that life may bring at any time.
  • Financial Wellness: your relationship with money and skills in managing it appropriately and having the ability to understand and live within your financial means while also planning for your financial future.
  • Environmental Wellness: taking care of your global environment and your personal surroundings.
  • Intellectual Wellness: the capacity to open our minds to new ideas and experiences that can contribute to personal decisions, group interactions, and community advancement.
  • Physical Wellness: maintaining a healthy quality of life through both your mental and physical health.
  • Spiritual Wellness: the ability to expand your sense of purpose and meaning in life, including your beliefs, morals, and ethics, whether they be derived from a religion or not.
  • Social Wellness: being able to relate to and connect with other people.
