The Veterinary Expo Career Fair, hosted by the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, featured a diverse array of 180 exhibitors. These exhibitors were present to engage with students, offering opportunities for associate veterinarians and externship placements.

The fair provided a unique advantage to students by serving as a one-stop platform to connect with various practices and professionals. Emphasizing the importance of early engagement, the event highlighted the current demand in the veterinary job market, where there are 15 job openings for every new graduate. Building relationships early on was stressed as pivotal in preparing veterinarians for real-world practice.

The fair drew participation from practices nationwide, with some exhibitors traveling from distant locations. The draw was the chance to engage with over 200 students in a single day. For one group of 385 veterinary hospitals across 25 states, the fair provided an avenue to promote its externship and summer job programs, as well as to identify potential candidates among upcoming fourth-year students.
