The best part of being faculty is …
Working with the students – they constantly surprise & impress me!
How would you capture the essence of your work in a newspaper headline?
Veterinarian gets paid to help animals and people!
My hidden talent.
I make really, really good chocolate chip cookies.
Words of encouragement to a current veterinary college student.
You're not supposed to learn the answers – you just need to learn how to problem-solve. Once you get good at that, you can find the answers you need.
One misconception that all students seem to have is...
That their professors and instructors know a lot more than they do ... they forget that by the time we've gotten to the point of teaching them, we've been able to specialize a bit. That is, we've narrowed our focus of what we teach – and we know a lot, but about a fairly narrow field!
This excites me the most about the future of my industry.
The next generation of veterinarians – they are hard-working and passionate about veterinary medicine AND taking care of each other. They're going to keep making this profession better.
A cause I'm most passionate about.
Improving equity in veterinary medicine. Veterinary medicine has too many barriers - including both admission to veterinary schools for students as well as access to care for owners, especially specialty medicine. Increasing equity and removing barriers will benefit our profession and society as a whole.
Favorite way to end the day.
In the bath with a good book!
How many pets/animals live at home?
Two cats: Motor and Hippo
